What is activity? ICF
A
The execution of a task or action by an individual. Activity limitations are difficulties an individual may have in executing activities - eg. intelligibility

What is participation? ICF
A
Involvement in a life situation. Participation restrictions are problems an individual may have in involvement in life situations - eg. talking on the phone

How dysarthria intervention goals can depend on diagnosis (3)
A
- Eg. stroke/TBI: will somewhat resolve itself, can suggest therapies
- Eg. prog neuro: deteriorations is inevitable, focus on maintenance of function
- Eg. Friedrich’s ataxia: motility is most important thing, then comm as they lose speech, then basic needs

Perspectives of living with dysarthria
A
- May avoid challenging situations
- Being treated differently, not being understood, assumptions of cognitive impairment
- Negative emotions
- Attitudinal barriers to communication, impatience, being talked down to
- Environmental barriers, noise, hearing
