A
  1. The deputy must have a reason to believe that the individual is about to commit a crime or the deputy feels that the use of OC spray will prevent the person from injuring him/herself, deputies or others
  2. When a person engages in physical resistance or assaultive behavior or indicates by word or deed that they are about to do so
  3. OC can be used to effect a lawful seizure or arrest
  4. On vicious or aggressive animals when those animals interfere with the safety of deputies or citizens
  5. In a protest or demonstration situation when authorized by an incident commander as part of a crowd control strategy

A
  1. Deployed cartridges, probes and wires in an operational deployment will be collected and handled as evidence
  2. Probes that have been removed forth skin will be treated as Bio-Hazard “sharps” They should be placed point down into the expanded cartridge bores secured and logged as evidence.
  3. Photographs will be taken of any injuries, punctures, or skin irritations that occurred as a result of the taser deployment and will be placed into evidence

A
  1. To terminate pursuits involving motorcycles, other 2 wheeled vehicles, three wheelers or any vehicle transporting flammable or hazardous materials
  2. Roadways bounded by steep descending embankments
  3. Areas of special events or activities
  4. Curves or locations where safety of oncoming traffic cannot be ensured
  5. Construction zones or highway work zones
