What 5 things should Deputies do at the beginning of shift with their MAV/BWC equipment?
A
- Make sure there is adequate power and the device is functional
- Camera lens are clean and free f debris and the camera is facing the intended direction
- recording mechanism is capturing both audio and video and the subsystem plays back both audio and video
- Any malfunctions are reported to supervisor and determine if the device needs to be placed into service
- Damage, loss, or theft shall be reported to a supervisor upon discovery and an officer memorandum created

- All suspect and witness statements and interviews may be recorded

- all responses requiring the activation if emergency lights
- All vehicle and foot pursuits
- All prisoner transports
- All crimes in progress
- All citizen contacts which the deputy reasonably believes will result in enforcement action
- All searched and inventories
- Any situation or event that the officer through his/her training and experience believes such recordings may have merit
