What is Professional Preference ?
Professional presence to include body language, demeanor, and verbal and nonverbal communication that creates an atmosphere of compliance.
What is verbal commands ?
Verbal commands in the form of task direction with consequences aimed at the subject.
What is Control Techniques?
Control techniques are techniques or actions with a low probability of causing (i.e., possible, but not likely to result in) connective tissue damage, lacerations of the skin, or broken bones. These techniques include the proper use of restraint devices, pain compliance, and strength techniques (e.g., handcuffs, leg restraints, joint manipulation, and pressure-point application).
What is Aggressive Responsive Techniques?
Aggressive response techniques to include the proper use of kicks, punches, chemical agents such as oleoresin capsicum (OC) based products, joint manipulation, pressure-point applications, and take-down techniques that are likely to result in damage to connective tissue, lacerations of the skin, broken bones, or irritation of the skin, eyes, and/or mucous membranes.
What is Intermediate Weapons?
Intermediate weapons include the use of impact weapons in an impact mode; military working dogs (MWDs); and the use of authorized less-than-lethal munitions and/or technologies which have a high probability to cause damage to connective tissue, lacerations of the skin, and broken bones.
What is Deadly Force ?
Deadly force to include the use of a firearm or any force that has a reasonable likelihood of causing death or serious bodily harm.
