Post 6 Vehicle Turn Around

During Normal hours once a determination has been made to deny a vehicle access to the installation, what are the steps to the vehicle around ?

Answer 1

1. Sentry will obtain valid Identification. The ID card will be held by the sentry for the entire duration of the turnaround.
2. Inform driver that they do not have access to the installation and is not authorized to proceed and place a traffic cone in front of the vehicle to indicate to the driver that they cannot proceed.
3. Sentry will walk to the rear of vehicle to make notifications to the RDC of turnaround and relay drivers first and last name, vehicle description, license plate information, number of occupants and reason for turnaround.
4. Sentry will walk back to the front of the vehicle, inform driver he/she is not authorized to drive vehicle until directed to do so, and relocate the cone from the front of the vehicle to the back of the vehicle in question to indicate that the driver behind that it is unsafe to proceed ahead while performing turnaround.
5. Once dispatch has acknowledged the information, commence turnaround. Then explain to the driver the route they will take.
6. Once driver has completed the turnaround return ID
7. For larger vehicles request a Patrol Unit.
