Usability and accessability Flashcards
Explain what “usability” means.
(+ the five E’s)
How easy a design’s user interface is to use and how functional a product or design is.
The five E’s of usability:
- Effective (can do what they want)
- Efficient (quickly)
- Easy to learn
- Error tolerant
- Engaging
Explain the overlap and commonalities between usability and accessibility
Accessibility: increases the chances of more people being able to use a product or design regardless of their abilities
Usability: for everyone
Overlap: For example does high contrasting colors help people with low vision and people watching the mobile screen in sunlight
Explain the differences between usability and accessibility.
Give an example
If all images on a website are assigned very long text alternatives, the images may be accessible, but listening to long alternative text creates usability issues.
Reports should highlight accessibility issues and detail which users with disabilities the issues affect.
