They decided to drop out of society, grow their hair long and take drugs. They often wore flowers as a sign of peace

How did the Second World War impact the role of women
Women had to work to contribute to the war effort which encouraged them to want to have a job as well. However when the men returned they gave up their jobs and those who stayed earned only 50-60% of what the men earned

National Organisation for Women - set up by middle class women to attack discrimination. Had 40000 members in the 1970s
What was the Women’s Liberation Movement
Women who had more radical aims than NOW, aka feminists. Didn’t wear makeup and burned their bras in public which made it harder for others to take them seriously

1963
When was the Educational Amendment Act passed and what was it
1972 - Outlawed sex discrimination in schools so girls and boys learnt the same thing
When was the Pregnancy Discrimination Act passed and what did it do
1978 - banned discrimination in the workplace against pregnant women
