What are the three layers of the urogenital diaphragm and what are they made up of ?
Superior layer - Fascia,
Middle layer - Sphincter urethrae and deep transverse perineal muscles,
Inferior layer - Fascia.
What structures are located within the deep perineal pouch ?
Urethra, sphincter urethrae, deep transverse perineal musclesm internal pudendal vessles and branches along with the pudendal ( Perineal) nerve.
Where is the deep perineal pouch located ?
Between the two fascial layers of the urogenital triangle.
What structures are found within the deep perineal pouch in males specifically ?
Membranous urethra, dorsal nerves of the penis, bulbourethral glands and penile arteries.
What structures are found within the deep perineal pouch specifically in females ?
Vagina, Dorsal nerves of clitoris.
Where is the superficial perineal pouch located ?
Between the superficial fascia layer of the urogenital diaphragm and the skin.
What muscles are located within the superficial pouch ?
Ischiocavernosus, bulbospongiosus,superficial transverse perineal.
What erectile tissue structures are found in the superficial pouch ?
Cura, Bulb of vestibule (female) , Bulb of tthe penis (male).
What additional structures can be found within the superficial perineal pouch ?
Urethra, vagina, clitoris, penis along with nerves and vessels associated with these structures.
What muscles attach to the perineal body ?
External anal sphincter, bulbospongiosus, superficial transverse perineal.
What are the 4 areas of urethra called in a male ?
Pre-prostatic,
Prostatic,
Membranous,
Penile.
What are the boundaries of the ischioanal fossa ?
Walls - ischial tuberosity & rectum/ anal canal,
Roof - levator ani,
Floor - Skin.
What structures are found within the ischioanal fossa ?
Branches of the pudendal nerve, artery and vein ( inferior rectal nerve & vessels), lots of adipose tissue.
