Pelvic Vessels Flashcards
At what position does the aorta divide to give the 2 common Iliac arteries ?
L4
What branch of the common Iliac Provides blood supply to the Pelvis, Internal or External ?
Internal.
How many branches form from the internal iliac ?
2 branches, Anterior and Posterior.
What is the first branch of the Anterior Division of Internal Iliac?
Umbilical Artery.
What gives rise to the superior vesical artery ?
Umbilical artery.
What is the third branch of the anterior division of internal iliac
Inferior Vesical.
What is the 2nd Branch of the Anterior division of the internal iliac.
Obturator artery.
What is the smaller of terminal branch of the anterior division ?
Internal Pudendal.
What is the second Terminal branch of the anterior division
Inferior Gluteal.
What is the 4th branch of the anterior division ?
Middle Rectal.
What does the Inferior vesical and middle rectal arteries supply in males ?
Prostate gland, Seminal vesicles and Ductus deferens.
Where do the testicular and ovarian arteries originate from ?
both originate from abdominal aorta @ L2 due to the positioning of the organs during development.
What us the additional branch in females that arises before the umbilical artery in the anterior division ?
The Uterine Artery.
What are the three branches of the posterior division ?
Iliolumbar, lateral sacral and superior gluteal.
What does the Umbilical artery supply ?
Urinary Bladder and Ureter.
What does the Superior vesical arteries supply ?
The upper part of the urinary bladder and the distal end of the Ipsilateral ureter.
What does the Obturator artery give overall blood supply too ?
The muscles of the pelvis, the medial compartment of the thigh and the hip joint.
Where does the Internal pudendal artery leave the pelvis.
The greater sciatic foramen beside the piriformis.
what branches does the internal pudendal give rise to ?
Inferior rectal, perineal and urethral arteries.
What is the additional branch giving off by the internal pudendal specific to males ?
The artery of the bulb of the penis.
What is the additional branch giving off by the internal pudendal specific to females ?
The artery of bulb of vestibule.
Overall what does the internal pudendal give arterial supply too ?
The rectum, Anal canal, perineum and external genitalia in both sexes.
What branch does the Innferior gluteal artery give off along it’s course ?
Artery to the sciatic nerve.
Overall what does the inferior gluteal give arterial supply too ?
Gluteal region and posterior thigh.
What does the Iliolumbar artery give arterial supply to ?
Psoas major, quadratus lumborum, iliacusm the L5 vertebra, scarum and ilium.
What does the lateral sacral arteries give arterial supply to ?
Sacrum, coccyx and structures withing the sacral canal along with structures within the vertebral canal.
Where does the superior Gluteal nerve exit the pelvis ?
The greater sciatic foramen, superiorly to the piriformis muscle.
How many terminal branches does the superior Gluteal artery have ?
2, Superficial and deep.
Overall what doe the superior gluteal artery give arterial supply too ?
Buttock region and the gluteus muscles in particular.
