SG is equal to the SG of the plasma. 1.010-1.012= Isosthenuria

decreased of concentration - dilute
Specific gravity
• measurement of dissolved solids in a fluid.
o UG or SG scale- 1.000 the SG of distilled water. No units
o Normal= more concentrated. Low= not able to do job well
o normal at 1.035 or higher
• Hypersthenuria
concentration of Urine
Azotemia
buildup of metabolic waste in the blood stream. Increased BUN (Urea)and CREA
Uremia
increase amount of uric acids or urea in the bloodstream
Renal failure
unable to conserve water, excrete excess waste
o Won’t show any problems till 75% kidney failure- difficult to treat at this point
Bacteriuria
bacteria in the urine
Dysuria
difficulties urinating
Pollakiuria
frequent urination, or sign of UTI
Polyuria
producing increased amounts of urine
Polydipsia
• increased drinking
PU/PD
Oliguria
decreased amounts of urine
Anuria
No urine
