Q

What is the etiology/pathology of stress incontinence?

A
  • sphincter is weakened
  • increased intra-abdominal pressure (laughing, coughing)
  • normally this pressure is on the bladder and also on the sphincter, which fortifies it
  • if there is a change in the urethro-vesicular angle (ex. pelvic descent after childbirth) the pressure changes and is only on the bladder
