What should the specific gravity of urine be?
Diluted: 1.003
Concentrated: 1.030

What is BUN?
Is a blood test done to measure urea levels.
It reveals whether your liver and kidneys are functioning properly.
If there is an increase than your kidneys are not filtering Urea out of your blood properly.
What is urea?
An end product of protein metabolism
What is the normal range of urea in the blood?
10-20mg/dl
What causes urea to rise in the blood?
Dehydration or decrease in fluids ( causes a decrease in filtration)
High protein diet- because urea is the end product of protein metabolism. So increase in protein = increase in urea
What color should urine be?
Pale yellow to Amber
What is creatinine?
A healthy waste product from muscle metabolism that the kidneys should be filter out of the blood like urea.
What does an increase level of creatinine mean?
Kidneys are not filtering the blood properly and can be damaged.
What are normal creative levels?
0.7-1.5 mg/dl
