The removal of metabolic wastes from the body
What happens in the kidneys?
Blood enters the kidneys theough the renal arteries and leaves through the renal veins.
Tubes called ureters carry waste products from the kidneys to the urinary bladder.

The product of the kidneys
What is urine made out of?

- uric acid (nucleic acid decomposition)
- urea (results from aminoacid breakdown of the liver)
What is the main function of the urethers?
To deliver urine to the urinary bladder
Which are the three layers of the urethers?
- Inner mucosa
- Middle muscle
- Outer adventitia
What is the urinary bladder?
The muscular sac that stores urine
What is the main function of the urethra?
To drain urine from the urinary bladder to an exterior opening of the body
What is the nephron?
A long tubule with a series of associated blood vessels
Which is the main function of the nephron?
Filtration of the blood
