99% of the fluid that goes to the kidneys is
reabsorbed into the plasma
only 1% of fluid is
excreted as urine
normal output
@ least 30ml/hr.; 1500-1600ml in healthy adult / 24 hrs.
oliguria
less than 400 ml in 24 hrs (4 ml in 2 hrs), worried about dehydration; check turgur
anuria
less than 100 ml in 24 hrs; worried about renal shut down compromise
bladder holds
approx. 600 mls.
At each voiding–
100-200ml in adult and 50-200ml in child
Frequency–
3 to 4 hours

anything that will hold fluid in the body will
cause decrease in urine output
anything that adds fluid in the body causes
increase in urine output
diabetes effects urination
increase u/o
sociocultural factors effects urination
privacy
psychological effects urination
people under stress - smaller amounts, more frequent
weak muscles effects urination
bladder doesn’t push well with urine left
