A

“moonlight’ for all urinary tract disorders, especially those of kapha nature

24
Q

prameha

A

excessive water production

25
Q

madhu meha

A

diabetes mellitus type 1

26
Q

Udaka Meha

A

presentation of kaphaja meha: urine is clear or white, cold, and odorless
no sugar-diabetes insipidus

27
Q

Iksu Meha

A

presentation of kaphaja meha: excessive cloudy urine with sugar; urine tastes sweet- diabetes mellitus type2

28
Q

Rakta Meha

A

presentation of pittaja meha; urine is like blood - al lot of blood-seen with serious kidney disease such as glomerulonephritis

29
Q

hasti meha

A

presentation of vataja meha; ‘elephant urine’ -the quantity of urine is large like an elephant; hypopthalamus is not producing ADH; no sugar; diabetes insipidus central

30
Q

Madhu Meha

A

presentation of vataja meha; ‘honey urine or sweet urine’
sugar in the urine
diabetes mellitus:type 1
most serious of all prameha

31
Q

Diabetes Mellitus

A

abnormal insulin secretion or uptake leading to elevated blood glucose levels
type 1: insulin dependent (madu meha)- pancreatic cells that produce insulin are destroyed by auto-antibodies, as a result blood sugar levels rise
type 2: non insulin dependent (iksu meha)
insulin is present but the cells do not react to it causing blood sugar levels to rise

32
Q

key herbs for madhu meha

A

shallijit KV-, gurmar PK-, saptaranga PK-; other secondary: bilvaPK-, neemPK-, guggul VK-Amalaki VPK-, Gaduchi VPK-, barberry VP-K=

33
Q

Hasti Meha

A

Central diabetes isipidus: vata imbalance in hypothalamus and pituitary gland that causes ADH not to be produced or secreted

34
Q

Nephrogenic Diabetes isipidus

A

Vata dries out ADH receptors and kapha blocks the cells receptiveness (udaka Meha)

35
Q

hypoglycemia

A

abnormally low levels of blood glucose : nervous system tonics and circulatory system tonics

36
Q

diabetes isipidus

A

a temporary or permanent disorder of the neurohypophyseal system leading to a problem with either ADH deficiency or uptake and resulting in excessive urination
