- cheaper 3/4 storey flats built as original plans proved too costly

- thoroughly planned settlements -shops, schools and libraries
- houses were a mix to attract a range of people

Tenement renovation

- flats combined to make larger flats, electricity, central heating and internal bathrooms were installed
- outer walls cleaned to remove pollution.
- one-way streets became common and made it safer for children

The Gorbals
A
- post-war development scheme - housing demolished and replaced with high rise flats - 1968 Hutcheson town built.
- poorly built and damp - 14 years after being built - everyone moved out.

- 8 tower blocks built in total
- built as a solution to overcrowding but became rundown and vandalised

- Athlete’s village - 2014 Commonwealth games - 300 houses for sale and 400 houses for rent
- Mixture or 2,3,4 family houses - all with gardens and many wheelchair accessible
