High numbers of immigrants can change character of areas as they bring their existing cultures and customs. Ghettos can form of this ethnicity is they fail to integrate

Some immigrants go to rural areas to seek work in agriculture, can have great impact on character of small rural villages than it does on larger cities

In developed countries, rural areas have increasing ageing population due to out migration of younger people and inward migration of retired people

Provision of services are affected by changing age structure, schools could close due to reduced demand
