CDC - Center for Disease Control - makes recommendation about health/ disease on local and state levels
What are the methods of pathogen transmission?
Contact (MRSA, VISA [staph infection])
Droplet (Mumps, Streptococcus A)
Airborne (Measles, TB)
Airborne plus Contact (Chicken Pox)
Hand Hygiene Techniques
Hand-rub (alcohol-based): use before and after treatment with pt. If a surface is touched, you must use hand-rub before coming into contact with the patient.
Wash hands - when visibly soiled, come into contact with patient, after using restroom & before eating
