Explain the context in which nationalistic sentiments developed in Europe from 1815-1914.

A

Industrial Revolution caused people to want more freedom and a better social structure. As conservatives tried to suppress revolts, nationalists, influenced by new ideals and ideas, joined forces and became a big deal in Europe.

Explain the context in which imperialist sentiments developed in Europe from 1814-1915.

A

Europe wanted the raw resources from Asia and Africa. By setting colonies, they could gain many resources. This also involved a whole lot of competition by all of Europe’s powers.
Though the colonists weren’t kind to the natives. Many writers and thinkers notice these harsh attitudes and write books on how natives shouldn’t be tortured. Many other theories, like the theory of evolution from Darwin, contributed to many racist beliefs and tensions about imperialism.
