Unit 7 Terms Flashcards
ABA Design
comparison design; single- participant research de- sign that consists of a baseline followed by a treatment
ABAB
ABAB design: also called a repeated treatments or replication design; an ABA design with treatment re- peated after the withdrawal phase
Single-subject research
a type of quantitative research that involves studying in detail the behavior of each individual of small number of participants.
Not a single participant but one at a time comparing changes to baseline.
Baseline
the measure of behavior before treatment that establishes a reference point for evaluating the effect of treatment
Treatment
application of a variable to a subject.
changing-criterion design:
research design that introduces successively more stringent criteria for reinforcement to see if behavior change coincides with the changing criteria
Multiple baseline design
research design that introduces different experimental manipulations to see if changes coincide with manipulation. Three types of manipulation: behaviors, subjects, and settings.
