Unit 6- Translation Flashcards
Anticodon
Sequence of three nucleotides at the end of the transfer RNA which is complementary to the codon in the messenger RNA sequence.
A-site
Where the tRNA comes into the ribosomes and binds the proteins.
P-site
where the amino acid will be added to the polypeptide (forming protein/Amino acid chain) after going through A-site
Codon
the code that it builds from three nucleotides that build a certain amino acid
Ribosomal RNA
Makes ribosomes
Start Codon
First amino acid in every protein. It is called AUG, Methionine
Stop Codon
Not an amino acid, but a code that says to stop building a protein.
translation
The process a cell makes proteins using a genetic information carried in mRNA
Transfer RNA
Transfers amino acids to form the right sequence of the polypeptides
