Q

Explain what this image is showing.

A

During photosynthesis Carbon dioxide and water go to a chloroplast and, in the presence of sunlight, are converted into Oxygen and Glucose. That Oxygen and Glucose go to a Mitochondrion and are converted into Carbon Dioxide and ATP during Cellular respiration.

Q

Compare and contrast photosynthesis and cellular respiration

A

Both involve water, glucose, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Both involve energy. Their equations are opposites. They happen in different organelles. PS stores energy in glucose and CR releases that energy.

Q

What is aerobic respiration?

A

This is the type of cellular respiration we usually do. Glucose is burned by mitochondria in the presence of Oxygen to make energy.

Q

What is anaerobic respiration?

A

This is the type of cellular respiration done by yeast, bacteria, or us when we’re sprinting. This is glucose being broken down without using Oxygen in order to make some energy.

16
Q

Compare and Contrast Aerobic and Anaerobic respiration

A

Both make ATP. Aerobic is more efficient and requires Oxygen. Bacteria can’t do aerobic respiration.

17
Q

What are two types of anaerobic respiration?

A

Alcohol fermentation- when yeast make bread, beer, or wine Lactic acid fermentation- when bacteria make yogurt and cheese or muscle cells make enough energy to not die.

18
Q

Will a plant in sunlight produce more Oxygen or Carbon dioxide? Why?

A

A plant in sunlight produce more Oxygen because it will do more photosynthesis than cellular respiration. Oxygen is produced during photosynthesis.
