What are the 6 steps in a bill becoming a law?

A
  1. ) A bill (proposed law) is presented to congress
  2. ) Congress votes on the bill. It needs a simple majority to pass.
  3. ) Once a bill is approved by congress, it goes to the president. If he approves it, it becomes a law. If he does not approve it, (veto) it goes back to congress
  4. ) if it gets a 2/3 majority while in congress the second time, it becomes a law
  5. ) the Supreme Court can declare a law unconstitutional (against or not allowed by the constitution) and it will be dismissed as a law. This is how the court interprets the law
