desert
a large area of land that has very little water and very few plants growing on it; many deserts are covered by sand

forest

fresh waters

polar region
an area connected with or near the North or South Pole
Many North American cities will be underwater when the ice caps in the polar regions melt and raise ocean levels.
wetland
an area of wet land, usually near bodies of water such as lakes, ponds, etc.
The highly productive aquatic plants grow in a variety of habitats throughout wetlands worldwide.
