Corrupt Bargain
A deal between Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams to get him to be a president and make Clay the secretary of state.
Democrat Party
created by Jackson when the Democratic-Republican party split, was supported by the “common man” in the southern states.
Spoils System
Andrew Jackson giving places or job to the people that vote for him and support him.
Sectionalism
Like and support only one side of the country and nothing else.
Battle of the Bank
Jackson’s attack on the National bank; was successful, and all money are moved to state banks.
Nullification Crisis
South Carolina declares the right to nullify, or cancel, a federal tariff or laws they did not want to follow.
Compromise Tariff
Created by Henry Clay to end the Nullification Crisis.

Known for the great compromiser and ended the Nullification Crisis.
John C. Calhoun
War Hawk; wanted to use Nullification to stop Protective Tariffs.
Indian Removal Act
law passed in 1830 that required all Native Americans to move out of the way of the American.
Trail of Tears
path that Native Americans were forced on to relocate to Oklahoma; 25% died along the way; caused by Manifest Destiny.
Worcester v. Georgia
Supreme court case: Cherokee Indians sued the Georgia state to stay in their lands. They win but still being removed.

the right to vote
Whig Party
political parties created in 1834 by the people against Andrew Jackson which was led by Henry Clay.
Electoral College
a group of people chosen from each state who meet to elect the President and Vice President of the US based on the votes of all the people in each state.
