Boston Tea Party
a protest against the Tea Act organized by the Sons of Liberty. Colonists raided and dumped over 340 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.
Boston Massacre - March 1770
a mob of colonist begin to bother the british group by throwing snowball and rock. But the british kill 5 colonist during the process
Common Sense
a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine urging the colonists that it was common sense to revolt against Great Britain.
First Continental Congress
representatives from 12 colonies met to discuss the issues the colonists had with Great Britain.
French and Indian War
war between Great Britain versus Native American and France to get Ohio River Valley. Ended by Treaty of Paris. But France lost all territory in North America, and Great Britain went into massive debt.
Intolerable Acts
Also called Coercive Acts. They were passed as a reaction to the Boston Tea Party, it attempted to force the colonists to pay for the tea that was dumped into the harbor; closed the port of Boston; set up military rule in Massachusetts.
Proclamation Act of 1763
Great Britain announced that the land was won during the French and Indian War but they give it to Native Americans so no one can go and live west of the Appalachian Mountains.
Quartering Act
an act passed that forced colonists to live in their house and provide everything they need.
Stamp Act
a tax passed in 1765 that forced colonists to pay taxes on printed materials including newspapers, marriage licenses, playing cards and more.
Townshend Act
taxes on goods brought in into the colonies including lead, paper, paint, glass, and tea.
