Core Reading Programs(CRP):
Commercial reading instructional programs commonly used in North American school districts. They are made up of student reading selections, skill activities, teacher manuals, and supplemental reading instruction materials.
Scope and Sequence Chart:
A listing of the skills and/or concepts to be taught in a CRP as well as the sequence in which these are to be presented in the school year.
Decodable Readers:
Designed to provide students with practice in applying knowledge of a particular phonic element(s).
Assistive Technology:
The use of technology by individuals with some form of disability that enables them to perform tasks that might otherwise prove to be difficult or impossible.
Reliability:
A statistical estimate as to whether an assessment instrument measuring some aspect of student performance is measured in a stable and consistent manner.
Validity:
The degree to which tests measure what their developers claim they measure.
Outcome Assessment:
Performance assessment that helps determine how our reading program and our teaching are in helping students attain grade level standards.
Screening Assessment:
Provide a first look at student knowledge.
Diagnostic Assessments:
Provide in depth information on students strengths and needs.
Progress Monitoring Assessment:
Ongoing and timely feedback as to how well individual students are responding to teaching.
