language is written as well as spoken, has rules of grammar and an alphabet
developing language

language spoken and used, but lacks a literary tradition

collection of languages related through an ancestral language
language branch
collection of languages within a family in which their common ancestral language is not as old, and the languages have less significant differences
language group
collection of languages sharing a common origin in the relative past and can display similarities in grammar and vocabulary
Vulgar Latin
a form of Latin used by ancient Romans, as opposed to standard dialect that was written in their official documents
