What does soil in an ecosystem provide?
A
- increased fertility through a build up of Matter
- break down of toxins
- enhanced carbon storage
- Reduction of soil erosion/huge increase of water storage

What are some soil degrading problems?
A
- increased likelihood of erosion with altered draining
- wind and water transport soils more easily

What are some conservation strategies?
A
- use organic fertilizer instead on inorganic
- leave crop residue as organic material (stubble) (more pesticides may need to be used)
- crop rotation (legumes for nitrogen)

A
Planting across a hill at leaves rather than rows up and down so run off has to go through all plants

A
Several crops in rows including trees

A
Trees blasted around the edge to protect from wind and prevent soil erosion

A
Using lots of methods to remove pests with out over using pesticides (introduce predators)
