Name the four types of bones
Long, short, flat, irregular
Freely movable joints
Joints that can be moved with full control. Most joint are this type
Slightly movable joints
e.g. vertebrae in the spine // move slightly
Immovable joints
e.g. the skull
Flexion
Decreasing of an angle at a joint e.g. bending the elbow
Extension
Increasing of an angle at a joint e.g. straightening the elbow
Abduction
Moving a joint or bone away from the midline of the body
Adduction
Moving a bone or joint into the midline of the body
Rotation
Where the bone or joint moves freely in a curve e.g. the wrist
Skeletal Muscles
Make up the majority of the muscles in the body. Only move with conscious effort
Cardiac Muscles
Work automatically and constantly e.g. the heart
