Executive Order
a rule or order issued by the president to an executive branch of the government and having the force of law.
Executive Agreement
an international agreement, usually regarding routine administrative matters not warranting a formal treaty, made by the executive branch of the US government without ratification by the Senate.
Line-item veto
Vetoing only certain parts of a bill while keeping the whole relatively fine
War Powers Resolution 1973
President can only send armed forces with approval by congress or in serious emergency.
Pardon
release from punishment
Amnesty
Blanket pardon for people facing prosecution
Excise Tax
Taxes on sales of goods. Can be used to tax things govt does not want public to use/do.
Public debt
Money that is owed by a government agency
Progressive Tax
Tax that places more of a burden on rich instead of poor
Isolationism
No interaction in foreign policy, keep to ourselves
Entitlement
a government program that provides benefits to any individual meeting certain eligibility requirements.
Collective security
the cooperation of several countries to promote peace
Regional Security Alliance
treaties in which countries involved have agreed to take collective action to meet aggression in a particular part of the world
