The Church is Jesus’s ………….. ……. ……… …………….. . Their mission is to __________
body in this world; continue his work
Implications of Saul’s first encounter with the Lord
The voice from heaven said “I am Jesus, who you are persecuting”. Implies that when you persecute the followers, you persecute Jesus himself, making Jesus = followers (hence we are the body of Christ)
Relate the structure of Jesus and the church to organs in the body
Each organ must do its job and not get jealous of other organs. All must obey the head (Jesus). No one organ is more important than another. When one organ suffers, the whole body suffers.
We are one ………………. of God. Christ is the ……………………………. . The apostles are the …………………………. . Jesus instructs each one of us, …….. ………………, of our duty. St Paul is …… …………………….., because he worked very hard for the church during his lifetime.
House, cornerstone, foundation, the bricks, the architect.
Why did Jesus sanctify the church through his death?
Because the church is his bride, and the bride should stand spotless and splendid by the groom.
What should we do, as the bride of Christ
Only do what is pleasing to the groom (Jesus). Love him and be loyal to him.
What is our hope, as brides of Christ?
Jesus has gone to set a home for us (in heaven). Therefore, we must wait for his second coming, and hope that we have been holy and pure, so that we may stand with him, rather than be condemned, at his second coming.
Where are the departed souls and how do we know?
They are in paradise with Jesus. We know because “Lazarus is in Abraham’s bosom”, and Jesus told the criminal “Today, you will be in paradise with me.”
What is our hope, as faithful?
That the dead will rise with Jesus on the last day, and that we will be with Jesus for eternity.
