Vegas in the 80s
negative: poor service, bland, etc.
what did Steve Wynn do?
he changed the marketing model:
before, casinos were the centre of attention: resorts, restaurants and attractions lured people to the casinos, so they didn’t raise money. Wynn made them be profitable as well: this way things became more expensive but also more luxurious.
why was Wynn’s model so great?
it was perfectely timed:
by the 90s, casinos were all over the usa, so people didn’t necessarily have to come to Vegas to gamble. Now they came for the other attractions as well.
where does Nevada’s GDP come from?
mining, not much agriculture, military, GAMBLING, hotels, constructions of houses.
