What was the Articles of Confederation?
It was America’s first government. It was weak because they feared abuse of power.
What was the Northwest Ordinance?
The process of admitting new states into the U.S where the population requirement was 60,000 and territories had to govern themselves.
What was the great compromise?
The decision made over how many representatives large and small states would send to the bicameral Congress.
What was the Three-Fifths Compromise?
The agreement over how slaves would count for representation and taxation purposes.
What is a Federalist?
Someone who supports the constitution and wants a strong central government.
What is an Anti-Federalist?
Someone who opposed the constitution and wanted more power to be given to the states.
What is Checks and Balances?
It’s the system of how each branch of government has power over the other two.
What are citizen responsibilities?
They are to serve on juries, vote in elections, stay informed, and obey laws.
What is the 1st Amendment?
It’s the freedom of religion, assembly, press, petition, and speech.
What was the 4th Amendment?
There would be no unreasonable search or seizures done on anyone.
What was the 6th Amendment?
People have the right to trial by jury.
What was the 8th Amendment?
People are free from cruel or unusual punishment.
What was the 10th Amendment?
Rights not given to the federal government are given to the states.
