A policy advocating territorial or economic expansion

A course of action that sovereign nation takes in its conduct with other nation-states or international organizations
Hegemonic Internationalism
The theory that the world that the world is being integrated on unequal terms, with the dominance of one nations state over others

Promotion of human welfare

A hegemonic company that encourages countries to adopt policies that foster economic stability

Structures and facilities needed for the operation of society

Organization comprised of sovereign states ex. NATO, WTO

The belief that the co-operation of nations for the benefits for the benefit of well being of humankind
Isolationism
A foreign policy in which a nation state chooses not to become involved in international affairs
Law of the Sea
Customs and international agreements by which governments maintain peaceful relations on the sea
Liberal Internationalism
The belief that through greater interaction and cooperation, nations and nation states can achieve common goals. Especially peace and prosperity
Multilateralism
Various nations or nation-states cooperate to pursue their interests and goals beyond national border in cooperation with other nations
NAFTA
An economic agreement between Canada, USA, and Mexico
NATO
Intergovernmental organization military alliance
Non-governmental Organization
Non-profit citizen based international groups that works independently of the government
Peacekeeping
A type of humanitarianism that helps war torn countries to create conditions for sustainable peace
Referendum
A direct vote of the people
Revolutionary Internationalism
Conflicts within society are determined by international factors and alliances
Security Council
A UN group charged with ensuring peace
Self Determination
A nations right to freely dominate its political status and pursue its economic and cultural development
Sovereignty
A nations right to self government
Supranationalism
Nations putting aside self interest to work with other nations for the good of the collective

When a state acts independently to pursue its interests
WTO
A group of nation states that work together to resolve trade issues

A peacekeeping mission done by Canada in Afghanistan after 9/11 to help US backed troops to oust the taliban

A country that determined itself independent after a referendum

After 9/11 a war on terror was created which included Iraq
