What were the events of the American Revolution?
Americans began to have a strong American identity, they protested being owned by the British and eventually voted unanimously on the declaration of independance
What were the events American Civil War?
Many in the south (confederation) owned slaves. The north (union) opposed this. The leader of the Union wrote the Emancipation Proclamation which abolished slavery. There was a war about this, which was brutal and deadly
What were the events of the Battle of Batoche?
A historic site where the Canadian government and Metis had a conflict. Where the Metis banded together to fight against the Canadian governement
What were the ideas surrounding the Charlottetown Accord?
The government’s attempts to amend the constitution is the interests of Quebec. It would have recognized Quebec as a distinct society
What were the events of the FLQ October crisis?
A radical group attempted to force change through violence and protest, resulting in the war measures act

A distinct group separate from first nations with diverse culture

A Metis man who led the Metis to resist Canada’s attempt of colonizing the land of Batoche

An agreement that allowed Quebec to have distinct status. Unfortunately the agreement did not take

An act created to reduce the Quebec isolation and guarantee a future for Canadian Quebecois

A term used to distinguish the Francophones of Quebec from Francophones elsewhere
What was the Quiet Revolution?
A period when reforms were introduced in order to change treatment against Quebecois and foster a sense if nationalism
