Unit 3 - Statistics Flashcards
How do you find the degree for the values in a pie chart?
Each value divided by total x 360
What type of data do you need to draw a line graph?
Continuous
What type of data do you need to draw a bar chart?
Categoric
Where does the independent variable go?
On the Y-axis
Where does the dependent variable go?
On the X-axis
What type of data do you need to draw a back to back stem and lead diagram?
NUMBERS ONLY
What do you need to draw on a stem and leaf diagram first?
A KEY
What is a frequency polygon?
A bar chart that shows the midpoint of each bar.
What is midpoint?
The middle value of each group.
What does a time series show?
The journey of something
Where is time on a time series graph?
On the X-AXIS
What is a period?
The time from one peak to another on a time series.
What can you work out on a time series?
THE MOVING AVERAGE.
How do you find a two-point moving mean?
Mean of first two values.
Mean of values 2 and 3
Mean of values 3 and 4
What does a scatter graph show?
The CORRELATION between two things.
What is strong correlation?
What the crossed are close together.
What is weak correlation?
When the crosses are further apart.
What is positive correlation?
Crosses lean to the right.
What is negative correlation?
When the crosses lean to the left.
What is no correlation?
No direction of the crosses.
What is the one of best fit?
A roughly one showing the general direction of the points.
What are outliners?
Points that do not fit the general trend of the data.
What is the range?
The difference between the highest and the lowest values.
What is hem mode in a list of data?
The value that appears the most.
What is the median?
The middle value of a set of data.
what is the mean in single data?
Add all together, divide by how many there are.
What is the mode in grouped data?
Group with the highest frequency.
How do you find the median in frequency data?
Add together the frequencies and divide by two.
What is the modal group?
The group with the highest frequency.
What is the median in grouped data?
The group with the middle person in.
How do you find the mean in grouped data?
Add two more columns. Find the midpoint. Multiply across. Add down. Divide by total frequency.
How do you find the range in grouped data?
Highest value in highest group - lowest value in lowest group.
