“Get”
When did you get your new jacket?
– the jacket is underlined as it is the object.
Get is used in this instance as to “receive” “obtain” or “fetch”.
He is getting better
– get in this instance means to become.
I have free time this afternoon, so I am getting the car cleaned after I go to the market .
– this is when we use “get” meaning to cause something to happen, in this case the car being washed.
Modal verbs:
Core modal verbs
– can, could, may, must, might, will, should, shall, would.
Semi modal verbs
– dare, ought to, need, used to.
Other modal meanings
– have (got) to, be going to be able to.
Here are some examples of words or expressions that have modal meanings:
- There is a possibility of rain tonight. (noun)
