Chords where each note is played simultaneously ( at the same time)
Broken chords
Chords where each note is played individually (one at a time)
Damper pedal
Pedal on the right, allows notes to echo when keys are hit
Crescendo
Gradually get louder
Diminuendo
dim, gradually die away
Decrescendo
Gradually get softer
Fermata
Hold the note for longer than its written value
Eighth notes
Rhythm worth ½ of one beat
D. C. al Fine
Da Capo al fine, from the head to the end; Go back to the beginning and play until the fine symbol
Dotted Quarter Notes
Quarter followed by a dot - rhythm 1 ½ beats (usually followed by a single eighth note)
