In the face of under development international organizations play a crucial role in mobilizing a collective effort in tackling and responding to limited development across the globe - in this essay we will evaluate the effectiveness of various NGOS responses to underdevelopmemt -list of factors - OXFAM, Doctors without boarders(DWB), Redcross.
Point one
Some people may argue that OXFAM has as an NGO been successful in dealing with underdevelopment - installed and maintained water pumps across Syria ensuring access to water for the people devasted by civil war.
Point one rebuttal
However, some people may argue that OXFAM as an NGO has not been successful in dealing with underdevelopment - OXFAM is heavily dependent on funding from the UK as 45% of their budget is directly from the UK meaning that thier sovereignty as an organization is limited.
Point two
Some people may argue that the NGO DWB has been successful in dealing with underdevelopment - the organization provided 54000 people with HIV treatments in 2022.
Point two rebuttal
However, some people may argue that DWB have not been successful in dealing with limited development - 54000 treatments in 2022 is a decline from the 74400 people who received treatment in 2019 aswell as the figure being considerably less than the people in need of treatment.
Point three
Some people may argue that the NGO the Red Cross has been successful in tackling limited development - provided 110000 with immediate assistance following the herat earthquake in Afghanistan to further prevent deprivation.
Point three rebuttal
However, some people may argue that the redcross has not been successful in dealing with limited development - over 275000 people were affected by the herat earthquakes with is a figure that is more than half of that which got assistance from the redcross.
