Cabinet Secretaries

the president follows powers only granted by Article II of the Constitution
Pocket Veto
a congressional session ends during the 10 days where a president does nothing, the law must be signed or it has to go through the legislative process again
Watergate Scandal (who, what happened, consequences)
A break-in at the Democratic National Committee offices in the Watergate complex in Washington was carried out under the direction of White House employees. Disclosure of the White House involvement in the break-in and subsequent cover-up forced President Nixon to resign in 1974 to avoid impeachment.
Office of Management and Budget
responsible for preparing the budget of the US and can be used to control and manage the executive agencies for the president. Has tons of power because of the ability to allocate money to the cabinet departments.
Department of Homeland Security (what is it and why was it made)
made after 9/11 to protect the borders, support agencies like the police, detect weapons, and analyze intelligence
Senatorial Courtesy (what and who usually does it)
Senators in states where the appointees will sit will submit a list of acceptable names of nominees to the president (only expected when the senator and the president are of the same party)

system of government within the executive branch in which power is divided among departments and officials, responsible for ensuring that policies and programs enacted by Congress and the executive departments are carried out.
