Unit 2 Noise Survey Flashcards
What is Potential Hazardous Noise
An exposure to steady state noise over a 8 hour TWA exceeding 85 regardless of duration
What is Potential Hazardous Noise Area
Exposure to a noise greater than 85 over an 8 hour TWA or a impact over 145dB
What is community noise
Military bases, Private neighborhoods and base communities have Noise regulations that very from state to state the level it should be kept at 55dB
What is the Criterion Level?
Standard for noise is 85 dB
What is Exchange Rate?
The increase or decrease in sound level and corresponding change in allowed exposure time
When sound level increase by 3 time allowed is halved
Noise Exposure Limit what is it?
Limits are determined based on sound level and duration. AFI 48-127 provides these limits.
Whole Body Effects Noise Exposure Limits
At certain sounds level other organs besides can be affected said limit is No octave or one third may exceed 145 dB
Pregnant Workers
A Noise level over 115 dB TWA or peak 155 dB in C weighting could effect the fetus
What is a Noise Survey?
A survey used to classify if a noise exceeds sound level 85 dB in accordance with AFI 48-127
What is a Worker Exposure Survey?
When the Potential to exceed Noise exposure limits worker exposures shall be evaluated
What is a Hazardous Noise Area Survey?
Surveys used to define noise exposure in Hazardous areas or identify a hazardous area noise zone around a certain piece of equipment.
