Q

Explain the significance of

Brazil Sugar Plantations

1

A

The Portuguese developed these plantations to Brazil and the Caribbean after introducing sugar, a cash crop. They made their colonies wealthy and it served as a way to subjugate natives to Portuguese colonial authority, since they used slave/coerced labor to operate.

Very bad conditions including extreme heat and overworked laborers resulted in the death of many slaves.
