Random selection
A procedure of random sapling of a set of participants or units from a larger set that relies on the use of chance process to minimize risk or researcher bias, either conscious or unconscious
Confounding variable
A factor other than the factor being studied in an experiment that might influence a study’s results
Experimenter bias
Bias caused when researchers may unintentionally influence results to confirm their own beliefs
Non experimental
Research that lacks the manipulation of an IV
Quantitative data
A research method that relies on numerical data
Qualitative data
A research method that relies on in-depth narrative data that is not translated into numbers
