Unit 1 Flashcards
Difference between anatomy and physiology
Anatomy is where everything in your body is placed
Physiology is how everything works
What are the 5 things an organism must do to be considered living?
Responsiveness Growth Reproductive Movement Metabolism
What is Homeostasis
Homeostasis is your body maintaining stability
Example: shivering when you are cold
What is the organization levels of an organism
Atom - Cell - Tissue - Organ Level - Organ System - Organism
What is the difference between microscopic and macroscopic
Macroscopic: observing things as a whole organ or whole body
Microscopic: observing small details
What is the difference between cytology and histology
Cytology: study of cells
Histology: study of tissue

What is the visible human project? How is it used today?
The visible human project was an experiment in order to understand the placement of organs in the bodies better, the experiment consisted of slicing up a man and observing every slice and their differences. This is now used in virtual surgeries or virtual medicine
Organs and function of the muscular system
Skeletal muscles
Smooth muscles
Cardiac muscles
-locomotion, support, heat production
