(Follicle stimulating hormone) : promotes egg and sperm production
TSH
Triggers release of thyroid hormones - has to do with metabolism
Prolactin
Stimulates development of mammary glands and milk production
Growth hormone
Stimulates protein synthesis increased levels during growth spurts
Melanocyte Stimulating hormones
Increased melanin production
ADH
Antidiuretic hormone- decreases water loss on kidneys
Oxytocin
In women stimulates uterine contractions and milk production. I’m men stimulates smooth muscles in prostate to contract
Adrenaline
Based on fear and anger stimulus; fight or flight
Thyroxin
Increased cell respiration = increased metabolism
Calcitonin
Inhibits release of calcium from your bones; tones your bones
PTH
Parathyroid hormone: regulates calcium levels in the blood through reabsorption
Estrogen
Egg formation , sexual characteristics, uterine lining
Progesterone
Maintains uterine lining, building and maintaining blood to support pregnancy
Testosterone
Male sex characteristics and sperm production
Beta cells
Secretes insulin, helps body get sugar into our cells and helps store excess sugar into glycogen in the liver and skeletal system
