how long do you have to display main symptoms according to ICD-10 do diagnose unipolar depression?
symptoms must occur most of the time, on most days for at least two weeks
mild episodes:
symptoms displayed: 4
features: a patient might find their symptoms upsetting but they will probably be able to carry on doing most day-to-day activities
moderate episodes:
symptoms displayed: 5 or 6
features: a patient might have serious problems doing day-to-day activities such as going to work or school
severe episodes:
symptoms displayed: 7 or more plus general feeling of worthlessness
features: a patient may have suicidal thoughts or engage in self-harm to cope with their feelings
