Pre-contemplation stage
(Not ready) A person in this stage is not seriously thinking about changing or starting an exercise program.
Contemplation
(Getting Ready) People in this stage have started to think about exercising or changing behavior and have most likely identified a course of action.
Preparation
(Ready) Clients in this stage are ready to take action
Action
(Actively Making Changes) People have begun to take the necessary action, but not much time has passed since they started making the changes.
Maintenance
(Adherence to Changes) This stage begins after the person has successfully adhered to an exercise program for a sustained period, 6+ months or more.
Exercise Adherence
The act, or actions, of consistently participating in the assigned physical training activities.
