Uncommanded Smooth Pitch-Up During Flap Extension Flashcards
What is the indication for a flap slab interconnect failure when your flaps are originally up and then you attempt to extend them?
As you extend the flaps, a smooth but definite pitch up will occur. You will notice you require large amounts of forward stick forces to maintain level flight
What failure could you confuse a flap-slab interconnect failure with when you are configuring flaps?
Trim failure. Proper analysis of configuration and control movements at the time of occurrence are essential
What should you do with your pattern airspeeds if you are landing with less than 60% flaps?
Fly AOA and on-speed indications
What are the correct (checklist) actions to take during a flap-slab interconnect failure during flight when extending the flaps.
- Flaps - Reposition to up
- Throttles - As required to maintain above no-flap flying airspeed
- Land with no flaps
Generally, the corrective action is to un-do what you did to cause the issue, I.e. move the flaps back to up. Maintain a safe airspeed for flight and perform a no flap landing
