When was the UN founded?
The United Nations was set up in 1945. With other global IGOs, it was part of an attempt to create a new world order of peace, prosperity and stability, and avoid further world wars.

The UN acts as a form of global governance through its several organisations. These
organisations govern different issues on a global scale. Some examples include:

What are the goals of the UN?
Promote growth and stability
UN sanctions have allowed inequalities and injustices to be resolved. The UN punishes countries that do not abide by international
laws.
However they also exacerbate Inequalities and Injustices
The UN Peacekeeping Forces have come
under major criticism for crimes against
vulnerable citizens. Peacekeeping forces
have been accused of sexual assault, human trafficking, child prostitution, and murder during multiple dispatches.
Goals and treaties
The UN promotes economic, social and
environmental growth through the creation of international treaties and goals.
The UN’s Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals are prime examples of UN declarations that promote stability and growth.

Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger
Achieve universal primary education
Promote gender equality
Reduce child mortality
Improve maternal health
Combat diseases
Ensure environmental sustainability
